Johnsmith 2012 New Year Newsletter
Hello Folks. I hope this finds you all enjoying the tail end of a sweet holiday season. It’s been a great year here along the open Mississippi River. Most years we are looking at ice instead of running waters by now. We had all of our kids and grand kids around us with lots of games, walks, movies, and oh yea, massive quantities of food.
I want to thank all of you for your continued support over the years. As you can imagine, this is a job of highs and lows. Long hours of driving, canceled flights, and being away from home. But it’s friends and fans like all of you that make it all worth it. So thanks a million. I hope to see many of you at shows, or an Ireland tour, or a songwriting workshop this year.

2011: In review and a full one it was
January: I sang on a Hawaiian seven day inner island folk cruise. Went whale watching, snorkeled, and watched a glowing volcano flow into the sea at dark. A great way to experience Hawaii, I hope to help lead another tour down the road.
February: Southern CA and all over OR
March : Tucson and Sedona AZ, Key West FL, and Big Bend TX
April : Louisiana and a week at Ft Pickens, FL with family
May : Taught my first ‘beginners’ songwriting workshop at the Esalen Institute, led my first of five 2011 tours to Ireland, and ended the month at the Kerrville Folk Fest.
June, July, Aug, Sept : I led tours to Ireland. Also in Sept I taught at the Sisters OR Folk Festival song camp, a very inspiring week for me.
Oct : N CA doing shows and advanced songwriting at the Esalen Institute
Nov : MD and VA
Dec : CO and back home for a long cozy home stretch end of the year.
